ANU School of Music Gala Concert in Collaboration with CSO

The ANU School of Music presents a Gala concert bringing together the School’s Classical and Jazz/Contemporary faculties to showcase the excellence of the School’s performance program.

The night will begin with a powerful performance from the Side by Side Chamber Orchestra, as musicians from the Canberra Symphony Orchestra join School of Music staff and students for a performance that is sure to inspire. This will feature the School’s virtuoso flautist Sally Walker delivering an engaging performance of CPE Bach’s glorious Concerto for Flute in D Minor.

The School’s diverse and talented Jazz Faculty will then entertain and amaze you with their renditions of original pieces and jazz standards including Skylark by Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer. The ANU Jazz Collective will finish the show with an exciting performance of Bill Holman’s arrangement of the melodious jazz standard But Beautiful.

The Gala is a celebration of the ANU School of Music, its skilled staff and outstanding students. The ANU School of Music is particularly proud to collaborate with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and bring two of Canberra’s great musical institutions Side By Side.
