Join the National Capital Orchestra for Brahms’ timeless Double Concerto featuring Australia’s finest string duo, Dimity Hall and Julian Smiles.
Experience the gorgeous atmosphere of Natalie Williams piece ‘Chambers of the South’ , which was inspired by David Malin’s photo of the Pleiades star cluster, followed by Respighi’s colossal suite ‘Belkis, Queen of Sheba’, complete with exuberant fanfares and mellifluous solos evoking Egyptian landscapes, flavours and pharaohs.
The exemplary standard of Australia’s top string duo is on full display in Brahms’ Double Concerto. Acclaimed violinist Dimity Hall’s solo career includes concerti with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Sydney and Canberra Symphony Orchestras. Equally lauded cellist Julian Smiles’ solo career includes concerti with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra Symphony Orchestras. Both Dimity and Julian have held principal positions in the Australian Chamber Orchestra and are consistently in demand as guest principals for orchestras around Australia.
Natalie Williams will present a free pre-concert talk at 6.30pm in the Atheneum.
