The streets in Scullin are named thematically for Australian aviators and aviation history and inspiration for this artwork was taken from pioneering Australian aviators through to the present day, where flight is a common occurrence and planes crisscross the globe on a daily basis, weaving lines of contrails and clouds of vapour across the sky. This artwork elaborates these contrails to create an abstracted cloud form, one that resonates with a wide range of potential meanings, suggesting movements not only of planes and people, but also of celestial navigation.
