Who We Are
As the ACT Government's arts agency, artsACT is part of the Community Services Directorate
and reports to the Minister for Community Services, Multicultural Affairs, Ageing, Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs and the Arts, Ms Joy Burch MLA ![]()
artsACT:
- Develops and implements government policies on the arts
- Manages and delivers the ACT Arts Fund, its various funding categories and awards and prizes
- Manages and supports the ACT's diverse suite of Key Arts Organisations, as well as the Canberra Glassworks and Belconnen Arts Centre
- Supports the Community Outreach Program, which is delivered by the Australian National University's College of Arts and Social Sciences (School of Music, School of Art)
- Supports the ACT Cultural Council - the ACT Government's strategic arts policy advisory body
- Oversees the ACT Government's arts facilities including repairs and maintenance
- Manages and delivers the ACT Government Public Art Program
- Advocates the ACT arts sector through forums such as the meetings of Cultural Ministers and the Australia Council for the Arts

- Administers the Cultural Facilities Corporation Act 1997

- Delivers a wide range of other arts initiatives and projects such as the Regional Arts Fund
