These large Bogong Moths are based on a design by Ngunnawal artist Jim Williams and are located between the National Museum of Australia and the Australian Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies. The work has been commissioned to celebrate the history and ongoing culture of the Ngunnawal people, the traditional owners of this land. Bogong moths migrate in clusters along the east coast of Australia annually and were an important food source for Ngunnawal people.
