The ACT is home to a diverse collection of public artwork that has been commissioned by the ACT Government and Australian Governments, as well as the private and community sectors. The ACT Government is committed to high quality public space and public art is an integral part of the urban fabric in Canberra. Public art is important to our community because it is the most accessible of the visual arts - it is for everyone and is owned by the community. Artwork in our shared urban spaces reflects the value that the community places on the arts and creative industries in Canberra. You can view the artworks via the links below: Discover Canberra Through Public Art TrailsLocals and visitors are invited to explore Canberra in a new way with the release of a special city public art trail map—just in time for Floriade, Australia’s Biggest Celebration of Spring. The Canberra City Public Art Walking Trail highlights a curated selection of artworks across the city, offering a fresh perspective on Canberra’s evolving character. This self-guided trail includes three route options and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Along the way, you’ll encounter some of Canberra’s most iconic public artworks, including Ethos by Tom Bass in Civic Square and Ainslie’s Sheep by Les Kossatz in City Walk. Even long-time residents may discover something new! Public art celebrations extend beyond the city centre. A digital Tuggeranong Public Art Trail is also available, including a special version designed for young artists. Both maps feature Oushi Zokei, Dream Lens for the Future, which was relocated to the Lake Tuggeranong foreshore earlier in 2025.
