Public art overview map

On first viewing, Droplet is a familiar geometric shape, classical in its simplicity, which references a drop of water. While the metal structure is rigid, the pierced and electro polished metal surface of Droplet suggests the glinting surface and fluidity of water. As the viewer approaches, the contrast between the simple form and the complexity of its surface increases. Surface detail reveals itself and on closer inspection, the pattern pierced into the inner and outer skins of the artwork interact and shift as the viewer’s perspective changes.
